India vs New Zealand: Things To Get Tougher For Kiwis
The Kanpur test was a trailer to what would the Kiwis will be served with in the test series. The tour for them will get tougher from here on in as they embark for the next test match. The second test match will be played in Kolkata starting from September 30.
India vs New Zealand: Poor start hurts Kiwis
Vicious turn and bounce of the wicket left the Kiwi batsmen in tatters. They failed to put up much resistance especially in the first innings.
They were steadily placed at 152 for 1 in their first innings. However, the Kiwis lost their last 9 wickets in less than hundred runs. Experienced players like Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor got it tough going even though they have vast experience of playing in Indian conditions in the IPL.
Batting fourth is never easy on Indian wickets. The Kiwis had to exactly do that chasing 434 for victory. Batting fourth on a Day 5 track, the conditions were absolutely opposite to the ones which they would have liked. This is where India took good advantage of their home advantage. Indian spinners ripped through the Kiwi batting force making them look amateur to spin bowling. Spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja picked up wickets in packs as they made the Kiwi batsmen dance to their tune in Kanpur.
Things are pretty much going to get tough for New Zealand from here on. The caravan now moves to Kolkata which has a history of churning out turning tracks. The first two days will be ideal for batting. The only option for Kiwis to get back in the test series is by winning the next test match. For that to happen, New Zealand need to put up a big first innings score and then their spinners need to pick wickets.
It will not be easy as the Indian team is well versed and well-known to these conditions. The Indians have experience playing in Kolkata thanks to the IPL. This test match will demand the Kiwi team players to up their game and fight hard to come back in the series.
Or it is all lost for the visitors and Indian captain Virat Kohli will add yet another achievement in his bag with another win in the ongoing India vs New Zealand Test series.
